2010 World Expo in Shanghai

June 24,2010, 7:30 a.m.

OMG. Yesterday was probably THE most amazing day so far on the trip. We performed at the 2010 World Expo here in Shanghai, China. LITERALLY a once-in-a-lifetime chance. It was fantastic! The crowd loved us!! Especially during our first set, when we performed the Spring Festival Overture. The audience actually clapped along and cheered throughout the entire piece!! It was probably the greatest feeling in the world to see the joy on their faces as we played. I can distinctly remember one lady in white who had the biggest grin on her face the whole time; she looked so happy!! It warmed my heart 🙂

After our performance (around 1ish), we got to explore the Expo on our own. I’m telling you, that place was probably the greatest place I’ve ever been. The buildings were incredible. Just these absolutely HUGE, beautiful, TEMPORARY (!) buildings. GAH! It was so beautiful! It would be impossible to try to capture the grandeur and beauty of the entire place. I remember going to the United Arab Emirates Pavilion the most. Because we received the TRUE VIP treatment. They literally escorted us ahead of the rest of the crowd and we got these spectacular photos with the Arabs. And the presentation in the inside of the Pavilion was truly spectacular. It makes me wanna go tour Dubai and Abu Dabi!!

Today, we also leave Shanghai to go visit a Water Town on our way to Hangzhou. I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to come along on this trip. I wouldn’t trade these experiences for the world!

Until Later,

Julian Tello Jr. 🙂
